Szomański's Manor

Szomański's Manor

Wooden Baroque manor commonly referred to as "Szomański's Manor" transferred in 1888 from Gnojno grange to its current location. It was erected in the second half of the XVIII century. A one-story building with a residential attic, initially covered with shingles presents a common type of XVIII century Polish manor with a mansard roof. The facade is decorated with a portico on the columns that support the profiled pediment together with concave drains on the sides crowned by the semicircle. Mounted on a new place the manor received partial basement, as well as annexes made out of brick in which there was a kitchen and an office. In the garden that once surrounded the building was an orangery.

Before 1939 the manor belonged to Józef Szymański social and political activist and a landowner (in 1933 changed his name to Szomański). During the Nazi occupation the manor was plastered and the roof covered with tiles because the building was intended to be the seat of the landrat - county administrator. Currently, the building houses hotel and a restaurant.
