St. Valentine Hospital
The original one-story building was built in 1843 at the initiative of the owner of Kutno Feliks Mniewski according to the project of Henryk Marconi. First patients were enrolled in 1845. The facility was rebuilt many times on irregular and asymmetrical plan. The main part has two floors with an attic covered with a tin roof. The primary entrance in a central part preceded by a fan-shaped staircase leads through a protruding semicircular vestibule with a terrace (1930s). From the yard to the central part of the building a chapel on a rectangular plan was adjoined. In 1861 in front of the building a statue was placed of St Walenty made in Munich by Boesław Syrewicz and donated by the artist to the inhabitants of Kutno. The first head physician of the hospital was Dr. Samuel Markusfeld (1845-1850). At the turn of XIX and XX century the hospital had 50 beds, employed two doctors, two nurses and a surgeon. From 1896 the chief doctor (Director) of the hospital was Dr. Antoni Troczewski. The hospital existed until 1980. Currently, it is the seat of Kutno Region Development Agency and other companies.
