Barracks of the 37th Infantry Regiment

Barracks of the 37th Infantry Regiment

Two-winged brick building, storied, built at the turn of XIX/XX century. Both wings were connected by a corner with the main entrance and a guardhouse. The first known holder of the property was Moszek Bombel from Skierniewice who provided the building for the needs of the 4th Russian Rifle Regiment stationed in Kutno. During the World War I barracks were occupied by German soldiers. From 1919 the Polish army was stationed there (from 1921 two battalions of 37th Infantry Regiment). From that time the property was turned into barracks of the 37th Infantry Regiment. In 1920 the building was bought by the Polish military authorities and in 1927 the expansion of the barracks began. In 1931 the north wing was expanded. During a defensive war in 1939, within the barracks, a field hospital was organized. The building during occupations was inhabited by the Germans. In January 1945 a German hospital was opened there and then the hospital for Soviet soldiers. Later the building was administrated by the Polish army unit on Sklęczki and in 1957 a plants called "Miflex" were launched here. Nowadays, the building houses a number of shops and companies.
